Here it is… video from the first half of Alex Lambert’s New York show!!

Alex and his friend Reagan (on guitar and backup vocals) were AMAZING, and the energy at the show was great – people sang along and screamed their lungs out after every song (or whenever Alex flashed those dimples of his  ). Alex seemed so happy and was cracking jokes all night – SO funny! And SO appreciative of the snaf and kind to everyone! Make sure to watch the video of his new original “Nothing” for a very special message to all of you who couldn’t make it (we missed you!) He hung around for AGES after the show getting to know everyone, and signed something or chatted with every single fan (and there were a lot waiting patiently). There are tons of stories floating around – Alex playing “Let it Be’ afterwards for a fan who arrived 15 minutes after the show ended cause her flight in from Toronto was delayed, Alex escorting two fans home after the long night (and a pizza party with the fans who had stuck around!) to make sure they got there safe… we keep saying it, but it can’t be said enough – Alex is EVEN SWEETER AND NICER AND MORE CHARMING AND ADORABLE in person than you can even imagine!!!

OK enough gushing… well actually, it’s never enough, but the videos say it all better than words can express. But before we get to them, a million thanks to Lauren for getting them up so fast – she literally has slept 4 hours in the last two days to get them uploaded for everyone. Thanks also to Benjamin for uploading his videos – for a different angle check out his YouTube channel. (And if you have more video from the show, please share for those who weren’t there!)

Thanks again to Cathy and Janet for organizing everything (we can’t even begin to express our gratitude!), and to Lauren, Therisa and Jessica (who did a great job introducing Alex at the start of the show!) for their help! Also, be sure to check out Jessica’s Alex Lambert Store to order your limited edition Alex in New York t-shirts – available until July 1st 4th ONLY!!

We’ll leave it to the lucky fans who were there to share more stories in the comments, otherwise this post will end up being a mile long. In the meantime, enjoy the videos!

> Alex opened the show with “Everybody Knows”…

> Then launched into Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning”…

> He followed that up with a great rendition of his original “Imperfectly Perfect”… guitar solo!

Yes, there’s more!!

> Next was Mario’s “Let Me Love You”…

> Then a sweet and soulful “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay”… yay for improvised lyrics!

> A brilliant mashup of Lil’ Wayne’s “How To Love” and Jessie J’s “Pricetag”…

> Chris Brown’s “Crawl”…

> The last song of the first half of the show was a very special treat – a brand new, never been heard before (well… almost never) original!! The song is called “Nothing”, and it is SPECTACULAR!

There’s LOTS more to come in the second half… Alex played a TON of requests – Stand By Me, I Been Working, Butterflies, I Didn’t Know, Use Somebody and Trouble to name a few! – and we have GREAT pictures thanks to our two photographers, Kristi and Nick! Bear with us while we get it all uploaded and organized!

  1. OMG, he did so many songs! He did so much more than we asked him to do and everything he did was beautiful and creative! He really went to extraordinary effort to make this show special for his SNAF. Gawd that hour and a half went by so fast. I couldn’t believe when it was over. I hope y’all don’t mind, but I’m downloading every last one of these videos. I need to save them forever.

  2. Thank you Lauren and to all the people who got videos and pictures of Alex’s show. It helped some to made me feel like I was there, even though I couldn’t go. :kissing:
BTW, if ANYONE got some video of Alex singing “Trouble” could you please post it here or let me know where I can see it. I love the way he sings that song.
Thanks again to Janet and Cathy for all their hard work putting this show together and to Alex for showing his Snaf so much love. Alex, you are one of a kind. :kissing:

  3. Thanks for posting these videos, especially for those of us who missed out this time around :(

Alex was awesome, as expected. He seemed to be in a good mood, and the snaf sounded awesome in the background too! I’ve watched all the videos and they are absolutely amazing. Alex is very generous with the snaf. I can’t wait to see him in concert!

Mahalo Alex! Your snaf love you.

  4. Thanks for all the vids. He really is amazing!

So who came with him? Mom, Trenton, Reagan, more?

    And was the place full?

  5. Hi Ray,
Yup, just his mom, Trenton and Reagan came with him.
If I’m not mistaken the tickets pretty much sold out so there were at least 80 people (full capacity – it was a small venue)… a crowd up front then some tables in the back. A lot of New Yorkers, but also fans from all over the country (and at least two from abroad)!

  6. All videos I’ve uploaded can be found here:
    http://www.youtube.com/NeueConcerts
There are still three I haven’t uploaded… “I Didn’t Know”, “Nothing”, and “On My Tongue”. I have to trim those but can’t figure out how for the life of me D:< The clips won't open in iMovie.

  7. Aaawww what a sweet boy! i love the banter with the crowd and the story about his little brother and the R Kelly song. What a sweetheart. Oh and isnt he pretty good on the piano now???? Sing and play to a crowd at when he could barely play last summer. I love the mash-up song especially the lil wayne part (which Ive never heard of) he sound aaaahhhhh… yummy…. He needs to do soul R&B his voice is so gorgeous.

Cant wait for the rest of the vids (no pressure) but Im dying to hear Ive been waiting… coz Ive been waiting for him to play that again

    Thanks for sharing the vids!!!

  8. BTW, been seeing Event pics all over…
Even saw one of Katherine sitting on Trenton’s lap???? did I see that right? oh yeah! lol
Im having fun and I wasnt even there…
    ok, imma shut up now…

  9. Thanks Kassandra, he’s off and running now! This New York show showed everyone that his fans will support him all over the country.

  10. Ray:
Thanks Kassandra, he’s off and running now! This New York show showed everyone that his fans will support him all over the country.

I think you’re right, Ray!!! I hope things start happening faster now.

It did go by way too fast. I was totally “in the moment” and enjoying every second of it. But, having these videos available to watch over and over is really special. I think Alex exceeded everyone’s expectations beyond what we could have imagined — and we were pretty stoked to begin with! What fun! I also have a new admiration for Alex, Trenton, and Reagan — true gentlemen — every one of them. Besides being charming, good looking, and funny, they are all extremely kind and loving. Can you believe this is the same scared young guy we fell in love with on American Idol last year? I believe and hope that Alex finally knows he is a STAR!!!!!

So, where to next snaf? I heard rumblings of Boston? Memphis? Alex already proved he can carry a show on his own in New York and, as the song goes, “if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere”…so, record producers, labels, etc, here’s your chance to jump on the bandwagon. The sky is the limit for Alex. But, in any case, his snaf have his back. If we have to carve our own path for him, we will.

  12. Y: BTW, been seeing Event pics all over…Even saw one of Katherine sitting on Trenton’s lap???? did I see that right? oh yeah! lolIm having fun and I wasnt even there…ok, imma shut up now…

LOL! Yeah, there were lots of pics taken and we’re all proudly displaying them! Lucky Katherine getting to sit on Trenton’s lap! It was amazing that Alex never once showed the slightest bit of weariness when taking pics and signing a gazillion things for his snaf. Alex is the real deal — down to earth, humble, and so immensely talented!

OMGGG LMAOOO, that was not my idea, hahaha! But yes you saw correctly. Apparently b/c I was the smallest person there, that was the only place I could fit bahaha. And it seemed like forever, b/c people were taking like a million pictures, lol. He was very nice about it though, no funny business haha. Trenton and Reagan are just as awesome as Alex is.

DITTO, DITTO, DITTO, AND DITTO JANET!!! I just want to reiterate though that Alex ABSOLUTELY went WAY ABOVE & BEYOND everything I ever imagined about meeting him. The entire experience COMPLETELY exceeded my expectations. Like I said before, I loved him before and now after meeting him, I love him even more, didn’t even think that was possible. The kid is the real deal, just genuine, sweet, funny, charming, super-talented of course, the list goes on. And if you ask anyone else, they’ll tell you the same, truly an amazing experience. More proud than ever to a fan of his, it’s really an honor. And meeting Gwen, Trenton, and Reagan was wonderful as well. I really can’t say enough. I’m still floating on a cloud somewhere…ahhhhh

  15. #Katherine- Trenton is a BUFF HOTTIE you LUCKY girl

  16. I love the little talk in the beginning of the Let Me Love You video about Idol & IICD, when Alex was saying he was eliminated before the Top 12 & one girl yelled out bull-sh*t! haha gotta love NY, we tell it like it is lol. @Lauren, just nasty not nice haha

    @alleycatfan hahaha :tongue:

  17. alleycatfan: #Katherine- Trenton is a BUFF HOTTIE you LUCKY girl

    He is! Lucky Katherine!

  18. Katherine: I love the little talk in the beginning of the Let Me Love You video about Idol & IICD, when Alex was saying he was eliminated before the Top 12 & one girl yelled out bull-sh*t! haha gotta love NY, we tell it like it is lol. @Lauren, just nasty not nice haha @alleycatfan hahaha

LMFAO! I love that girl! Who was it? Fess up! Gotta admit, Gwen & Lauren had to explain “nice nasty” to me. It’s a Southern thang, that I didn’t understand. Like, Katherine says, we don’t know how to do that in NY. We can be nice and we can be nasty, but not both at the same time. We just call it like we see it. I’m not saying I don’t appreciate how useful “nice nasty” could be — it might serve me well to develop that skill. But, sadly, I think NYers are missing that gene. :wassat: hahaha

  19. “Nothing” is everything. Any idea who co-wrote it?

    • @Lo I dunno… Lauren’s the person to ask for that lol! She already figured out that a tweet he sent a while ago was a lyric from it.

Nick, fantastic article! I love the intro especially…

“He was clearly one of the most talented contestants of not only the current season, but of the show’s history. His smoky, soulful voice along with his personable, down to earth attitude created a winning combination that is very rare.”

      So true!

  20. LOL Janet! yeaaa I’d have to agree with that

  21. Janet Shaughnessy: LMFAO! I love that girl! Who was it? Fess up! Gotta admit, Gwen & Lauren had to explain “nice nasty” to me. It’s a Southern thang, that I didn’t understand. Janet, “nice nasty”?? Could you explain it to me?? lol
BTW, LOVE the videos and pictures, Kristi and Nick. Thanks to everyone for everything.

  22. Hey guys I am sorry that I am finally commenting. I suppose it’s not a bad thing seeing that it was exactly 1 week ago today at this time that I was in attendance for this EPIC show. I will go ahead and apologize for being an all out fan girl on the videos. I never use a camcorder and got so caught up in the moment that I didn’t think about my voice being recorded. I’m rather upset about that now, but WOW what a time I had. I couldn’t help myself! It’s a long story how I ended up bent down in front of an adorable group of teenage girls, but that’s where I was after his 1st two songs. That’s why my video is filmed so close to Alex. (Sorry I also didn’t turn on the control for dim settings.) Told you I was full of apologies. I really did want the videos to be perfect. That’ll teach me to read the instructions next time!

Like everyone said before this was the best that I have ever seen Alex perform. He was having a great time himself and was very comfortable on stage. He and Reagan honestly exceeded my expectations with their vocals and showmanship. I enjoyed the addition of the keyboards and the pedal for the backing tracks in some of the songs. It really did enhance the overall show and performance. Regardless of the fact that there was no sound guy, Alex was able to manage it all quite well. I was impressed. Loved his banter with the audience. It did not sound forced or rehearsed. I loved that the first set was structured and the second set was more informal with Alex performing requests. The audience became so comfortable with him that he was at times being bossed around. Sooo cute! The girls would not accept Alex not being able to perform “I Didn’t Know”, so he worked it out for his adoring fans!

@Lo …I am “kind of” sure in reporting that he wrote “Nothing” with a relative of Toby Gad. It was loud at Smith’s and hard for me to hear well. The relative’s name sounded like Jan (the Dutch pronunciation of John). I did some googling and Toby’s brother’s name is Jens. He recently relocated his studio to the US in Nov. 2010. I’m not sure if Toby was a part of the writing process, possibly, but he was writing with The Veronicas at the same time. How could he do both? Maybe because he’s Toby Gad, lol. Alex tweeted before going into the session that he was writing with a producer, which Jens is. The location was at Toby’s because after Alex arrived he tweeted Toby Gad= hustler. Also we know it is customary for Alex to have written some lyrics and melody before going into a session. He tweeted the “bout ‘to take a trip on a submarine’ ” two days before going to Gad’s studio. Those were lyrics in “Nothing”. In any case we know that Alex is doing well when he’s spending time with Toby Gad. Sorry but that’s all I got. :ermm:

@Tracy… The “nice nasty” is the act in which a southern woman insults another in a very kind unassuming manner. The person on the receiving end often is often unsure of what happened. I never mastered it, but my sister-in-law is a pro. ha ha

It really was one of the best weekends ever and so much fun to meet all the snaf, Alex, Gwen, Trenton, and Reagan. Hope we can do it again next year!

Thank you again Cathy and Janet for making this all possible!!

**** One more thing….. I’ve never heard Alex sound better than he did. It is true that his vocal ability has improved over the last year as if it weren’t good enough. Watch out… it’s just a matter of time. I think about the delay in his album and I’ll always say that things happen for a reason. Now when his album goes into full production, IT WILL BE BETTER THAN EVER!!!

  23. i missed a fantastic show….i would love for him to come to Winnipeg, just wondering costs and such, but can get venue…and lots of advertising….a whole new fan base too !!!

  24. darren: i missed a fantastic show….i would love for him to come to Winnipeg, just wondering costs and such, but can get venue…and lots of advertising….a whole new fan base too !!!

Oh, man, Darren, Alex “LIVE” totally exceeded my expectations and I was ready to be blown away anyhow. If you want to DM me on twitter, I’ll give you my email and some insight into the process of trying to book Alex.

Lauren, you never cease to amaze me with your encyclopedic knowledge of all things Alex Lambert. I suffer from CRS disease.

And, stop apologizing for your videos. THEY ARE FANTASTIC!

And, you did A LOT to make this event happen.

And, introduce me to your sis-in-law. I really need to learn how to do “nice-nasty.” LOL!

  26. Janet: Oh, man, Darren, Alex “LIVE” totally exceeded my expectations and I was ready to be blown away anyhow. If you want to DM me on twitter, I’ll give you my email and some insight into the process of trying to book Alex.

Janet you have my email, I would also like some insight into the process of trying to book Alex LOL…still working on Memphis!

  27. Lauren was mentioning Toby Gad, who Alex has worked w/ I guess 2, 3 times, maybe more. But, I just saw him on the E channel. He was discussing the Selena Gomez album he wrote and produced . I actually think Selena is a good singer. I was listening to a cover she did of “Magic”, recently- not the Olivia Newton John “Magic”, but the other one(don’t know who sang it), but I actually REALLY liked her vocal on it

  28. Janet:

hey Janet i will dm you, definitely would like to get all the logistics, good market for him here too….and of course,i would offer free tours of Winnipeg ,hahaha…either way next one i have to go, fly whatever

  29. Oh, my, you know lots of things about him. That’s So awesome

  30. Can anyone give me the lyric for “nothing” ? I can’t get this song out of my head so i start singing (more like humming actually) with my guitar but i can’t figure out the lyric

  31. Gloria:
Oh, my, you know lots of things about him. That’s So awesome

Ha ha No I don’t know much about him. I’m just observant at times.

I’ve never written the words down to Nothing but Matilda did a nice cover of it. She replaced the word “girl” with “love”. You could probably jot them down easily while listening. Check it out…..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6L0ht2XxTY&feature=youtu.be
