  1. snuffles: TrueAlexLambertTexas is really really nice but I cannot wait to get back to LA so I can get in the studio;) ONE LOVE

ONE LOVE- would be a cool title for his album, yes?

“Never Waking Up” did not have a pop sound to it at all. Matter of fact, I still think about it. Yesterday morning the bridge of the song popped into my head and it kept playing over and over. Made me a little sad because it might not be on the album with all the other awesome songs that Alex has produced.

  2. GollyMolly: Regarding that D Magazine thing Linda mentioned earlier…the people they have left are horrible compared to the people voted out. I mean the people voted out from AI include Alex, Jason Castro, Todrick Hall, and Kelly Clarkson. And we’re left with Nikki McKibbin and Casey James? Who the hell is voting for these people?
ETA: Alex wins “Sunday Morning” over JP hands down!

I know I thought the very same thing….they voted Nikki Mckibbin over Kelly Clarkson?? And Terry Fator (not from AI)..but that guy is mad talented??

  3. I love the acoustic version of “Never Waking Up” the best. Just Alex and his guitar. It has a melancholy sweetness to it that’s wonderful. I agree, Lauren, might not fit with the rest of the album. Not sure if I trust Glass and Lawhead to produce it properly either. And I think Alex oversang (gasp!) a bit on the demo. Don’t stone me…

Thinking about co-writers and David Hodges writing with all the Idols. I wonder what’s going on with Katie Stevens that she’s writing with Hodges and crew? I wonder if she’s being groomed just like Alex by 19 and/or Simon Fuller? According to her tweets, sounds like she’s been in “meetings”–but she’s making it public, whereas Alex has been sworn to secrecy. I didn’t watch much of Idol this year, but I recall she was pimped up the wazoo in the early stages. I think TPTB thought she was their “girl”, but she didn’t connect well enough with the (boy-hungry) fans. (I’m sure Shadow has something to say about this. )

  4. It does sound like Katie is getting groomed like Alex is. Although I’m not sure how much connection she has with 19 Management.

This year it looks like 19 Management only picked up Lee DeWyze and most likely Alex (although we have no official word on that). Crystal and Casey have gone with other management.

So maybe 19M has taken on Lee, Alex and Katie. In Season 8 they took on Kris, Adam and Allison.

  5. I thought 19 did pick up Crystal and Casey?

    Crystal 19/Jive
    Casey 19/Sony BNA

  6. @GollyMolly – That’s 19 RECORDINGS. Separate from management. They got record deals with 19 but they won’t be personally managed by 19.

ETA: Ian Pririe – the guy Alex has regular meetings with – is a manager. He co-manages along with Simon Fuller.

  7. Gotcha…that’s so confusing to me.

  8. @Lauren, @Diane – Never Waking Up is one my favorite songs. I really hope it gets on the album or we get to hear the demo of it. I know there’s a video of it on YT. I was listening to it the other day, pretty bad quality, but it sounded really good to me though. I liked the guys Alex wrote it with, they were funny and seemed cool. But yeah, that Sweet Serendipity song is awful, imo. But I’m not a fan of Lee. At all.

I really liked John Park last year. I voted for him. He’s gorgeous. That’s awesome he’s getting another chance.

  9. Another John Park performance

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVEHxxOuaAE&NR=1

He’s really good! Too bad he didn’t get to show his stuff on AI. I have a feeling he’ll get a record deal (in Asia) whether he wins or not. He’s handsome AND a good singer.

  10. Wow, I really like that. He sounds great! I agree he’ll probably get signed. He would definitely be marketable.

I really really like his new haircut, he had that Biebery haircut before.

  11. I know that I’m tardy to the party once again, but thanks for posting the clip of Alex coaching Ben. I never saw that one. It’s funny that Alex has the essence of acting down pat, while Ben struggles and appears so amateurish. Alex’s critique was right on. Wow. Is there anything our boy can’t do? He was just born to be a star.

I love that he’s tweeting often — even if they are somewhat cryptic. It’s fun to try and decipher. We’ll see when we see.

  12. On Lee’s songwriters-I guess that’s the direction they wanted to go;I think they should def. have gone the traditional Rock route, given he looks and sounds the part-I just don’t get it,after reviewing his entire songwriter list  With Alex selecting people like Harvey,Avila Bros.,Saadiq-with Deekay prod.,is a good choice-as his lead album writers so far,cuz-Pop/R&B-he does look and sound that part.So-some good decisions, and some questionable ones for Alex and Lee… For Crystal,at least it should be fairly easy to guess the style of album, and artist…

  13. I found this article about the marketing of Justin Bieber interesting:

    http://hansebert.wordpress.com/2010/10/18/1562/

This part in particular made me think of Alex and why every record label should be practically DROOLING to sign him.

“For years now, there has been a void in the market for a white kid singing homogenized Pop music with some urban beats- not too nasty- and with a good ten years worth of “career.” And now, here he is.”

The way I see it is, Alex has the potential for longevity that Justin Bieber doesn’t. Alex is young enough for the tweens and teens, but old enough to pull in the 20 and 30 somethings too (a coveted demographic). Plus his voice is timeless where Justin Bieber is “of the moment” and will stop being “cute” in a couple of years.

  14. Its a good thing I get Alex Lambert Google alerts on my email, I never saw this one…cute.

  15. Preach snuffles preach!! With a voice like Alex’s he could have been popular 50 years ago and he’ll be popular 50 years from now.

  16. Hey all – I haven’t even finished watching this yet, but check out this link to jambajim’s interview with Josh Skinner. In Part 1 – almost out of the box – they mention Alex!! Here it is:

    http://bit.ly/ceOccL

I’m going to finish watching it now!!

  17. Aww I love Josh Skinner…he’s so nice!

  18. RE: “One Love”

“One Love” began as an uber famous Bob Marley song, meaning universal love for all, but the term has been adopted into popular usage, mostly by rappers, to basically mean “peace out”/bye.

Oh, and if you guys are ever curious about Alex’s “slang” go to UrbanDictionary.com

They have EVERYTHING anyone from my generation has ever said. For example they have 53 definitions for “legit” that thousands of kids have voted on, edited, redefined. (Haha no Alex did not make “legit” up)

  19. Anyone have a link to a video of when Alex first moved in and sang for the Dreamers. I love the “I am SO fucked” look on Justin Gaston’s face the moment he heard Alex sing.

  20. Josh Skinner needs to do another interview with Alex. Alex does awesome interviews anyway but I thought his interview with Josh was really great.

  21. snuffles: http://www.hulu.com/watch/140165/if-i-can-dream-life-lessons-latex-and-lambert

There are other versions of “I’ve Been Working” on youtube, but this is the episode when Alex moves in and sings it for the first time.

Here’s another link from youtube when he was just singing in his bedroom and saying “this song needs a rap right here.” I remember watching it. It’s really funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN4vLPh7XVs

Thanks everyone for the various links. Good stuff!

  22. POSTED ON ALEX’S FACEBOOK:

  24. AyeM: Josh Skinner needs to do another interview with Alex. Alex does awesome interviews anyway but I thought his interview with Josh was really great.

Yes thanks Linda for posting the link to the Josh Skinner interview… Jim’s opinion on the worst Idol winner – ouch!!!
@AyeM Josh has been loyal to Alex, that’s for sure. During Alex’s interview he said that he quit watching American Idol after Alex was eliminated and he reiterated the point again during Jim’s interview. I’ve got mad respect for the guy. I agree that his interview with Alex was really great and also very necessary. Remember how unsettling that time was for him.

@lola – I’ve consulted the Urban Dictionary on many occasions in the last 7 months. It has been helpful!

  25. Couldn’t agree more Lauren. Of course Josh agrees with us because he’s got an ear for music and knew Alex was special right out of the gate just as we all did. I love him for not being afraid to speak the truth about AI. But, of course, Alex really ended up the winner after all, didn’t he?  :ninja:

  26. This is totally random….and off subject…and it’s possible that this was previously posted on the site a long time ago, but just incase it wasn’t I wanted to add it, b/c I’ve never seen it and didn’t know anything about it until I watched Jim Cantiello’s interview w/ Josh Skinner…anyways here it is…it’s from their radio show, “Something Pitchy”

Oops, Lauren, I think Marianne posted that one, I posted the thing about Alex thing on Sunday….Your welcome anyway though lol

That’s it! Thanks. Justin’s bitch face is priceless.

  29. Here is one I never seen before, I don’t know if anyone else has posted it. There are a bunch of clips that I didn’t watch yet because I was too busy reading the comments. I like this song.

That’s definitely one of my all-time favorites! Right from the start – Kara’s face, Ben pushing his hand through his hair – and, of course, that dopey, scared shi*less look on Justin’s face. Kara – sweet Kara – of course I think her reaction and emotion were sincere and happy, but even Ben I think was thinking – Geez, this little guy’s gonna come in here and school us!

  31. snuffles: That’s it! Thanks. Justin’s bitch face is priceless.  (Reply)

    I agree.

  32. Watching those vlogs of Alex when he first got on IICD, you can see how he was eager to get to learning more about music from the pros and recording. He gained a lot of experience from the show and living in LA. I can’t believe it was for 7 months we were watching him on that show – time flies. Alex’s tweet say he can’t wait to get back to LA and be in the studio. Its good to know he will be recording. Hope things are still moving along. He should get to LA as soon as he can, even though its good to do charity, or a show and promote himself while in Texas for other opportunities – but LA is where the game is at and where he’s doing his music recording. The other idols are in LA too, looking at opportunities available. I was reading Ben and Sam Larsen’s tweets. Ben is doing a fashion show. Its good they hooked him up with an agency so he can make an income – Ben is very dedicated. Sam said he’s walking a fashion runway for the first time too. He has the the looks and height for it. Sam has musical talent and good looks too and taking acting classes — its good he’s versatile like that.

Diane: I read Katie’s tweet and she has been having meetings and recording with top writers. She’s feeling good about the opportunities. She should get signed. Yeah, she was someone the judges felt could do well right from Hollywood round after she sang some soul song and she has a great voice and potential to be marketable as Pop/Soul artist. I think she should have made top 5, but she first picked a boring song, but once she started picking Pop/R&B songs that fits her and she showed some sassiness and dressed like a Pop star she gained momentum. I think when Simon was saying she should go into country even though that’s not her genre, and Kara and Randy agreed she should be in Pop/R&B, cause that’s what she is, and sounds like Christina Aguilera, Katie got frustrated and chose a song about the judges telling her one thing or the other and Simon pushing her into a genre. And that was her last performance and she showed her sassy attitude , and that made some viewers vote against her. And some on Idol board who are judgmental were attacking her a bit. Katie is kind of like Alex and can come off too confident (but you need some attitude in the Pop/R&B scene.) She didn’t wanna do country cause she likes Pop/Soul. She has a great voice that fits that genre and is marketable in Pop/R&B market, and can even do disney movies. Katie shines when she sings soulful songs and pop songs. She has videos at competition singing Whitney Houston song, and she loves Beyonce and Christina Aguilera. Simon just wants to force everyone into Country cause Carey Underwood is doing well there. Katie belongs in Pop/soul genre, not country. She is my favorite after Alex and I’d like to see both release a CD and get signed cause they have very good voices that’s radio friendly. Here is Katie Stevens singing Christina’s “Fighter” on Idol tour. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJv1hqA1NIk&feature=related

Snuffles: John Park the Asian guy on Idol had one of the good, stand out voices of season 9. (I think season 9 had more contestants with very good voices than any other season) He has a big voice and I liked his R&B runs too. That’s good that he gets to be in final 2 of a Korean talent show. I agree with you that the Korean Pop scene is the best in Asia. They are very good at hip-hop too. Some of their singers are American born or lived here. Its actually interesting to see how Korea have artist that are hip and good compared to some other Asian countries that prefers bland boring ballads. Philippinos are good at Pop/R&B/Hip-hop too.

Btw, The Spanish mexican guy Joe Munoz that was on season 9 tweeted a couple months ago that he was one of those that made it to the last audition round and may get into the big Spanish talent show like idol. I didnt come across his twitter again to see if he made it though. I remember when the guys performed in the first idol top 24 I liked his performance of Jason mraz “You and I both.” I enjoyed him, Alex and Casey’s performance most in that first round of guys. Its always good to hear when those who were on idol get opportunities where ever they can. Reason I like and watch idol since season 1 is cause I want to see those who have talent make it or have some career.
