I think most of us Alex snaf have accepted the demise of “If I Can Dream” and – especially with Alex’s recent live stream Stickam sessions – barely miss it (correct us if we’re wrong). However, it seems there are still fans of the show that care; as we move further into 2011 – the year “If I Can Dream” was supposed to return for its second season – more and more people are searching the web asking, will it be back?

Cast of If I Can Dream

The cast of "If I Can Dream" at a rare meet-up a few months after the show ended: (from left to right) Alex Lambert, Ben Elliott, Kara Killmer and Giglianne Braga. Where are they now?

So, in the absence of any official announcements or forthcoming news from Simon Fuller and co., allow us to digress from Alex-related topics for a minute to ponder the show’s fate. Do we think it will be back? The answer is a definitive “No”.

Don’t believe us? Read on…

Even disregarding the hasty, unexpected way the “first season” ended, the writing on the wall is clear… in its absence. That’s right, the notice posted on the live stream website (ificandream.com) promising the return of “If I Can Dream” Season 2 in 2011 – the last hope of dedicated Dream fans – has been removed. Instead, visitors are greeted by an empty, white page.

But let’s say, for the sake of argument, that “If I Can Dream” does return (in some shape or form) for a second season… it will not be in the same house (the property has been put back on the market), and it will certainly not feature the same cast.

How can we be so sure? Well, Kara has tweeted “You should just know that I can’t explain anything about the state of If I Can Dream because I’m out of the loop. If and when it starts again, it won’t be with us. That’s showbiz. Plus, it takes a while to pitch shows to TV. So who knows?” And Alex, in response to people asking when the show will be back, has tweeted a couple of times that it’s over and done with.

If you’re wondering what the dreamers are up to these days, here’s what we know: Ben Elliott and Kara Killmer are still based in LA, still going to auditions, and recently filmed a short film teaser together. Kara is additionally acting in the Revolve Tour, a show for middle and high school girls that plays at various locations across the US. Giglianne Braga is also in LA doing her best to pursue her dream of modeling, and Justin Gaston (who in any case had abandoned ship by the time they pulled the plug) got a short haircut, is apparently back in LA after stints in Nashville and Boston (where he self-produced an EP) and is modeling and dating actress Melissa Ordway. As for Alex, most of his days are spent in the studio working towards his album, with show dates planned in the LA area in the coming months (and yes, he’s finally found a safe place to live).

So there you have it. The cast has moved on, and now it’s time for you to move on too. We know, we know… hope dies last. But take our word for it – this one’s not even worth dreaming about.

  1. Even the site is not available now. Ay…
I miss Ben. And his bromance with Alex.
I caught Ben few weeks ago OL @ Facebook.
He said he’s still in acting class. and dont know about IICD.
Too bad he cant chat long enough ‘coz he had class that time.
But he said he’d hang-out with Alex soon (that time).
Never heard of him NEmore. especially he no longer active in Twitter and i barely catch him in FB NEmore. Ay… ?_?

  2. IICD is Kaput. All signs point towards it…. To start with it was badly handled, it’s like theyre just waiting around for someone to pull the plug. It May have been management or just economy and bad timing. It kinda sucked for the original members since theyve invested more of their time and efforts to it, Alex just kinda showed up one day and did not have to go through all the prep work. Then again, its not a bad deal to be 21 and having your dreams served up on a silver platter while getting paid to do it. Actually Maybe it sucked the most for Michael Herwick since He was in charge of this and it was an Epic failure, yet unlike SImon Fuller who’s a gazillionaire, he’d actually have to get another job while having this stinker on his resume. DO we know what he’s up to? I actually kinda liked his mild d-bag persona.

By the way I think it wouldve been pulled earlier if Alex didnt show up and was just the original 5 all along. NOt that I’m being completely Bias here, but those kids are not reality material. Alex surprisingly had both the immense, raw talent And the off the wall personality thats compelling to watch. Apparently the smartest too since he’s made the most connections out of this opportunity too.

Im surprised that Gig is still in California since shes been saying she’s more of a NY than Cali model. Ben oh Ben, love him and I hope he’s getting better with his acting. Kara should join some sort of theater company, she’s good enough for that definitely. Justin should always keep modeling as an option coz he’s gorgeous, no doubt. The music thing, I dunno, still not digging his voice… Whats the other blonde chicks name?
Alex better get signed… I think he will, theyre just preparing him coz the voice is there but he needs the whole performance part to follow. but As long as he is under 19 and actively writing and recording then there’s hope! ANyhow, is he still with Olympia? Oh and when is JOsh’s interview coming out????

  3. Geeesh it was weird looking at the real estate listing for the house. It seems so clean and cold. I remember it being fun, funky and very, very messy. Those really were some fun times…..but time to move on. Bigger and better things for our Alex.

    • If I’m not mistaken Cathy, the pictures they have up there are old – from before IICD took over (I think Ben mentioned once that when they were first shown the house, the PBR was actually red).

I had to laugh at the mention of the large plasma screen TVs in every room – wonder whether whoever rents it will wonder why a house needs quite so many large plasma screen TVs!! Also wonder how many holes they left in the walls when they took all the equipment down haha!

Anyway, that’s about all the time I have left for thinking about IICD. Like you say, so long as Alex’s journey towards his dream is progressing (which I firmly believe it is) I’m a happy camper!!

  4. I don’t care about IICD. I only watched for Alex.

  5. It will not be back- CKX totally cut the fat, as well as downsizing 19E..so absolutely it will not be back, and I don’t blame them- I would have done likewise..I was grateful for the media exposure that Alex got out of it for 6 months, but onward and upwards!!!

  6. The show is toast. I think last year was more of a financial bloodbath than people realize. I just read yesterday that Season 9’s AI Tour only made $9.6 million dollars. Season 8’s tour had made over $30 million.

That’s a $20 million dollar loss in profit for just the tour. I’m sure they lost money all around when it came to AI last year. So it’s not surprising things like IICD got cancelled.

  7. The pics are the updated pics. The owner had the show’s post production crew paint the rooms back to their original colors, which were all white but the PBR, which had to be repainted red (the original color). The production cost for IICD was way too much money to keep things going and once new management took over 19 Entertainment, they “cut the fat” and ended the show immediately. Simon, who “wanted to bring the show back” or whatever he supposedly said was full of crap. In his mind, he moved on to bigger and better things and left the show to die. Showbiz is a bitch and, like many shows, IICD fell victim to it. Trust me, there will never be a second season of IICD.

  8. I just saw ben on the new show “The Lying Game” Season 1 Episode 2 on Hulu. He has a very small part and uses his dumb expression well ha. I’ll let you watch it and spot him. Seeing him brought me to google the name of that show that I couldn’t remember and I found it “If I can Dream” ha soo old now been a year crazeeee
