  1. Sorry Phil, Ray, etal. . . . ADORABLE x 3 = Perfection!!!

Were those girls just about swooning??!

  2. “And You Got a TAYOOL To Tell”-Alex gets a big response from his one-of -a kind phrasing of “tale”-the way only HE can pronounce it -that is MONEY-he needs to make sure his records reflect that!!!

  3. Oh, there was definitely some swooning going on. Lucky girls.

You’re right alleycatfan, it’s his phrasing and soft accent that make him so fabulously distinctive.

  4. That was awesome! And I was just about to call it a night, I’m glad they posted more of his performance! Ditto to everything Janet said!

    • Hahaha Janet “soft” accent… guess that’s catching on ;)

I like what that “Idolwild” blogger said… “there’s something soft, almost a little angelic about the strength with which he takes on his upper register”. So true!!
(for those that missed it, here’s the link again: http://idolwild2010.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/concert-review-alex-lambert-at-the-roxy/)

I wonder if he realizes it’s that soft, angelic higher register and the “flutter” (vibrato) at the end of his notes that everyone goes crazy about?? Cause it seems most of the songs he’s written require more “power vocals”, and don’t let that softer side shine. I also love when he goes from a high to a low note, and his voice kinda “catches” along the way – don’t know how to describe it properly… it’s what happens on “HEART..break hotel”

ETA: Though I also adore the REALLY gritty vocals, like on Hound Dog, or when he does Twist and Shout. Blows me away!

  5. @KASS-you described it exactly right-the way his voice -catches- out of nowhere in the middle of a phrase-No one else can do that …

  6. Alex performed more songs at that rendevous hotel, but the episode only showed ‘blue suede shoes”. He sounded nice singing all of them. Looks like no video of the wednesday at Roxy yet? That’s unusual. Maybe IICD didnt let people record cause they wanna show it in episodes, and put it on the sites. I read a couple tweets of those who were there and they enjoyed it though. It’d would have been nice to see videos like first Roxy show. IICD better show the whole thing.

I kept tuning in few mins before Alex left the house today – 3 times he came back home too – I’d remember to check in, and he’d be in, and few mins later heading out. I heard him singing “Running in place’ after returning from writing sessions, but cant really have an opinion on that song cause I didnt hear much of it. Then he left home, and I thought that’s it he’s gone, then he came back. And I thought oh, he’s back. Then he played his Biggie CD I think and he started changing clothes. Then stuck his hand inside front of his trouser right “there’ – and he picked up white underwear from pile on the floor and smelled it to see if its clean. Yeah, he did, punk ass boy. And he went in bathroom to change. He used cologne too. I haven’t seen him spray cologne before. I’m sure the British guys wear one (I was wondering what cologne he uses. I like colognes) Oh and he wore like a black cardigan over his white T-shirt and was looking nice in a casual chic kind of way. Then he went back and changed to his new green hoodie that’s more typical of him. He sprayed cologne again. And the avatar said “seeing girlfriend” – oh ok, the cologne, clean underwear, we get it. Hormonal boy Alex! What about his many teen fans who are in love and want him seeing that avatar though.

I saw Sam tweeted he’s sick with bad headaches and weak body and to pray. Awww, hope he gets better. He should take vitamin C and see a doctor if necessary is what he needs to do. He tweeted few hours later he loves the band the Cardigans when he was 12. Maybe he’s getting better. Hope Alex wont get sick again – he was sick enough. I feel lucky that I dont get headaches. Maybe 3 times I can really remember getting a mild headache, and first one was after adjusting braces at dentist years ago.

  7. Lol at Alex primpin’! It’s super hilarious that he was smelling his underwear! WTH! Lol! Poor Samuel and his headaches! It’s all the fast food while hanging with Alex, I tell you. His body isn’t used to the garbage. (Apparently he’s a health freak. ???)

About the Elvis vids. I lovelovelovelove the fangirls! One of them looked like she was about to jump on Alex, but was trying hard to maintain decorum cos that’s how her momma taught her. I love how Alex’s mom and bro were in the background looking so proud. And Alex was super good with Hound Dog. I love his throatiness. I’m amazed, however, that nobody was really tapping their toes. WHY?! Am I the only freak who sways and bops her head and taps her toes while listening to good music? :silly:

  8. HOT DAMN!! Those were really good videos. I loved listening to Alex sing those songs. I thought he “performed” really well too. He didn’t look nervous or anything. He should “cut loose” more often.
Wow, I think I need to watch them again. Alex was down right hot in them.
Alleycatfan and Kass, I agree 100% with what you say about his voice. LOVED those videos. Thanks for posting them.
“Thank you, thank you very much”, lol  :w00t:

  9. I loved these videos. Alex is so comfortable when he sings Elvis. Those girls at the first table really seemed to like him, but so did the three “mature” ladies in the black tee shirts. How could you not love Alex. So talented.

I hope that this is the new way IICD is going to handle things. Obviously, they can’t include the whole Memphis show on the episode, so I’m glad they gave us all the songs on video clips. I’m looking for the same from Wednesday’s Roxy show. More Alex is alway good.

PS – New York would be fabulous. I will definitely be there. I wouldn’t miss it!!

  10. I’d fly to New York to see Alex, but especially to meet all of you up there, lol.
Oh Kass the flutter notes!! I first noticed them after I added his Ellen performance Mp3 to my ipod. It only happened a couple of times but they were so distinct. I must admit that in my first letter to him, I mentioned the flutter notes as the most unique thing about his voice and that I hoped that he would write a song that would bring them out more. Told him he probably thought I was crazy. (After that I was knocked out by the soulfulness in his voice.) I ask the same question…Why doesn’t someone write a song that showcases that distinct quality of his vocals instead of the always exposing the powerhouse notes. I keep thinking that maybe “One Kiss” has some. Also it seems that most of the songwriters want him to use his falsetto in their songs. I still don’t think he’s comfortable with it yet. I would like him to write a song like “Night Train”. I think he would enjoy playing that type of song in a show and it does sit well in his register.
@Shadow_ia I didn’t couldn’t get a good take on “Running in Place” from what I heard either.
Got to get packed up. Headed out of town for the long weekend. I’ll see what’s going on later tonight. Kass I’ll check my gmail acct. also, okay. See y’all.

  11. Correction from above: Alex is comfortable with falsetto obviously in the recording studio, but it becomes more complicated singing them during a show. One can’t really belt out a falsetto.
Exception could be Adam. He can hit a crazy note, but I never enjoyed it.

  12. God!!! So good!! I get sick when I think could have gone….they did say they were sold out, so……I will have to cling to that excuse….wont I. I am glad you guys put a finger on what that it is about Alex voice that gets me, I could never explain it to anyone without sounding like a doof. “flutter”….yes thats it…lol!

  13. Oh yeah, and I was also thinking that those people in the back probably would have been bopped in the head with a spare rib by me for NOT paying attention!!!……..hee hee j/k I am a lover not a fighter

  14. Haha @LindaW. That is a very good word for the sound Alex’s voice makes, “flutter”. Love it.
Uh, I was wondering if someone could make MP3s of these songs for us?? Pretty please. :)
I would be so greatful. I would love to go to NY for an Alex concert, but I would need an excuse to go to give to the hubby….. hmmm.

  15. @Tracy – Excuse: Meeting up with BIG group of friends for . . . shopping!! Yeah – that’s it – NYC shopping!! Tell him you’ll just window-shop!!

  16. “Flutter” – that is a good word to describe it. I also like a little raspiness in his voice — just a little. His voice coach is doing a great job with him, but I don’t want him to smooth off ALL the rough edges because those are the things that give Alex his unique tone. I don’t mind a slight crack on certain notes. Have you ever noticed that singers that never, ever seem to make any kind of mistake when they’re singing are also kind of boring to listen to?

Re: The Memphis videos: I think the reason why some of the people were more interested in food than Elvis is because they were crazy Elvis fans and Alex isn’t an Elvis impersonator. They’d rather see some jerk in a bedazzled jumpsuit and wig than a real singer. Those young girls and a few others were definitely into Alex though and that’s just fine with me.

I love that we’re planning our NY trip already. Keep the positive energy flowing. It’s gonna happen. Anyone who needs a hubby excuse, tell them you’re being interviewed for the The Real Housewives of wherever you live.

  17. Lovely! He’s sooo good… that voice is hypnotic! Can you imagine when he gets older? he’ll sound more soulful and sexier and wiser due to age. I like his voice when he does his fillers too “nnaaawww, eeehhh, uuhhhhm” not too raspy just a bit scratchy… love it! Not only is he the best vocalist last season I think he’s the most contemporary too and the one with best chance for radio coz lee is just a bad daughtry (sorry to offend anyone) and Crystal is good but not radio at all… hhmmm who else? Nah,just Alex, good looking, contemporary unique voice… now he just needs some stage moves!!!

BTW, Im going to New York in OCT hopefully Alex goes there at that time, wouldnt that be a kicker? Also how’s Gramercy Park or Soho for neighborhoods to stay at? Is it pretty safe and close to happening spots? any tips would help since Ive never been to NY…. I might go to that spot where Alex was in the video by the bridge (the night shot) it was quite beautiful…

  18. Alex is so good! He’s such a smooth cat  He is amazing to watch, so full of life, too  I would love to see him perform in Boston  I loved all his Elvis renditions, especially Hound Dog.

Alex, your fans love and adore you!

  19. I’m thinking if they send Alex to New York to write and record with some people, they’ll set him up to perform at a club or two while he’s there.

  20. Yes, Snuffles. Then we East Coast fans can do some in-field reporting for a change. It would be great experience for him. New York crowds are different. But they would love him. I really hope this happens.

  21. @ Yves, that’s great that you’re coming to NY and would be even more awesome if Alex did too at that time! I live outside of the city so I don’t go there that often to know any specific happenin spots. But I can tell you that Soho and Gramercy Park are pretty safe areas and very trendy. Actually I think Alex said he stayed at a hotel in Gramercy when he was here. That’s downtown area and there’s great shopping, restaurants, bars/clubs and stuff. It’s not walking distance from midtown, you’d have to take subway or cab. Midtown is where the landmark/ tourist attractions are Empire St. building, Madison Sq. Garden, Herald Sq., Times Sq., etc.

And that spot by the Brooklyn Bridge, I believe is the Brooklyn Promenade. I’ve been there quite a few times, beautiful view! There’s nice little restaurants in that area too. You can take the subway to Bklyn Promenade from downtown Manhattan easily, it’s close, not sure exactly which train though, I can find out. Maybe Janet may have more helpful advice and know specific hot spots? Oh just be careful walking around late at night by yourself, are you going by yourself?

  22. Oh lets hope this New York gig happens…only 8 hours from me here in Ohio…maybe MTV will book him to perform on New Years Even, when I’ll already b in NY to watch the ball drop…that could make my 2011! lol

  23. I’m with snuffles on this one. I think the New York writing gig is finally going to materialize–could be he just learned of it yesterday–so they might try to get a club gig somewhere while he’s there. I figured the writing collaboration wouldn’t happen before Labor Day, so there you go. I still hope it’s the Espionage guys…or Claude Kelly. Hmmmm, but those are Sony go-to guys, so maybe there are other writers that aren’t on my radar.

ETA: Forgot to add about this Lambert comparison–I guess they feel compelled to do it because they were both on AI, but really a better comparison is to *Miranda* Lambert. She’s from Texas, plays guitar, and is a pretty phenomenal writer. Plus she was on Nashville Star, a reality show, way back in 2003. It’s taken her a while to come into her own, but she’s hittin’ the big time now with a bunch of CMA nominations and lots of recognition.

  24. Oh I have never been to New York!!! I would love, love to go sometime, hmmm maybe this can be my excuse. :w00t:

  25. I hope we’re all right, I gotta feeling it might happen. I’m gonna keep the positive energy flowing Janet!

  26. A quick comment @LindaW I’ll meet you in the Atlanta airport and we’ll fly up there together. I’m in. I’ll be back later tonight!

  27. LOL, Lauren…..it s a plan!!! Oh, wouldn’t that be fun!!!!

  28. Alex is home has piano lesson with Olympia in the PBR.

  29. Looks like Jordyn will be moving into the Dream house! Didn’t expect that one!

  30. This is all coming together. I just know it. As far as NYC goes, I think Katherine laid it out pretty well. Great job, Katherine! Keep in mind, for those who haven’t been here, NYC is “big” in name, but it’s actually quite small geographically. Public transport is definitely better than driving, but I prefer to drive ’cause I live so close. Parking is a bitch and very expensive. But, whatever…we’ll figure out the details when we have to.

The more I think about it, that was a hint that Alex threw out yesterday. Oh, yeah. He’s coming to NYC. Waa-hoo! I can’t wait for us to meet up at our favorite artist’s first NYC performance. Kass, it won’t be the same without you! Feeling the need to get back to North America anytime soon?

  31. Chrilly, What a shocker! Maybe Andy turned it down. Anyway, wonder when Jordyn will be moving in. MySpace doesn’t give any details. I’m following Jordyn on Twitter. If I see anything, I’ll pass it on.

Janet – I am so looking forward to getting together with a big group of Alex fans in NYC. Oh, Kass, wish you could be there.

  32. That is a surprise to hear that Jordyn will be moving in.
Olympia asked Alex how the SSMF went and he said it was good but that Wed at Roxy was better. He said she should come see them. Alex doesn’t know when he will play there again but seems sure that he will.

  33. Alex finishes with his piano lesson and what does he do? After walking Olympia to her car he comes back and practices his piano scales. Such a gentleman and such dedication!

ETA: Still practicing an hour later with no signs of stopping.

  34. Ug! Jordyn? Another bland blond.

  35. What a great, great opportunity Alex has been afforded with his piano lessons with such a wonderful person!!

  36. She has taught celebs,incl.Aguilera-she’s good.
Alex(to camera)-How interesting is it watching me eat right now? Am I an INTERESTING EATER?

  37. Historic photo??

    unmaamun
http://twitpic.com/2kwas3 alex lambert & the lights

  38. Cool picture! It looks pretty historic to me

  39. Great picture! THAT is what I was looking for on Saturday. I’m sure Alex was SOOOOO excited to see his name up in lights at such a historic venue.

  40. Reading tweets and Facebook responses it’s kind of cool to see all the different people respond asking Alex to play all the different parts of the US and even the world. I can’t wait until he goes on a real BIG tour and actually gets to visit those spots.

  41. Came home early today–needed a mental health day.

I can’t find the calendar for next week, but I’m sure Olympia was scheduled for next Tuesday. I remember because I thought, “oh shoot, I’ve got a hair appointment and I’ll miss it.” Anyway, I was thinking that maybe Alex is heading to NYC on Tuesday, so they snuck one in today. Of course, it’s prolly more like Olympia will be out of town for the long holiday, or something more mundane, but I’d be surprised if their was another lesson on Tuesday. Anyway, I guess it’s just wishful thinking. Did we lose our link to the IICD calendar?

I am flabbergasted about Jordyn moving in. Maybe that’s why Ben has been so pissy.
ETA: I hope Alex finally realizes the value of twittering to his fans. That comment about playing in NYC generated so much twitter response, it wasn’t even funny. I wish he’d do a twitter Q&A–those are a lot of fun.

  42. Since Alex is home, he should really read and answer his fanmails. It’s really important that he shows his appreciation to those fans that took the time to write and send gifts.
I agree with many of you that he should communicate with fans more through means of twitter such as tweet party or Q&A or other means. We haven’t had a vlog for a while now…if he prefers not to do vlog, he can just blog. This is so important in keeping his current fans and drawing in more.

  43. I think Alex is having his own well deserved mental health day. It’s nice that he is getting a break. He’s had a really busy couple of weeks.

  44. Did anyone see that Kara DioGuardi is leaving as American Idol judge. I guess that means that Jennifer Lopez got the job. Randy has been confirmed as staying and it was reported that Tyler has already signed on. I kinda liked Kara. I don’t know what that show is going to be like now.

  45. I saw that. Last season was rough. For me American Idol started going down the toilet bowl the night Alex was eliminated. And with this new panel of judges it’s just not gonna be what it used to be. They should just make next season the last season. JLo as a judge? That’s a joke. I think it’s gonna suck!

  46. Pfft Kara who? Lol. I’m excited about J.Lo. Hope she will put on some spicy latina fire into the show. About Jordyn moving in… WHAAAA?!!! I tried listening to her songs but it was not my cup of tea. At least Alex would be happy. Heh.

edit: I think AMI should continue! It’s a great way for people like Alex to gain international exposure. Sure, we have to endure the crappy results (still can’t believe Lee won, no offence) but seriously. It’s a great avenue.

  47. I never liked Kara as a judge. I’m excited about J.Lo. Kind of cringing at the thought of Steven Tyler. I’ve been watching AI since Season 1 and Season 9 was HANDS DOWN the WORST season EVER. I agree, losing Alex right before the Top 12 in favor of Tim Urban was just a travesty. But aside from that, they were just the dullest group of contestants ever.

  48. Jordyn, Ugh!! Oh well, I will have to get over it I was really pulling for Andy…thats about a bunch of crap. Maybe they were getting alot of heat from Myspace there was some real pissed off people on the comments saying how it was all rigged and Jordyn did get alot of votes and I couldn’t see any for Andy. Oh well, good Alex is sleeping…he probably needs it. I know Reyne, I always say I will never watch AI again especially after Alex got the boot, but found myself little by little watching again, I guess its like a car wreck you dont want to look, but cant help it lol.

  49. That’s a good point Reyne, it is a good way for talented people to get recognized, it’s so hard to break through in the music biz. But yea the results are crappy sometimes. I’m not really a J. Lo fan, yea she’s a superstar and everything but she cannot sing! And she comes off as phony, to me anyway.

Snuffles I agree, season 9 was soooooo dull! Omg, painfully boring to watch sometimes, no spark from any of them really. I used to love watching it, but last year was so disappointing, that’s why I’m not so sure how much longer it’s gonna last.

  50. Jordyn, Jordyn how boooorrring….

She’s so cookie cutter blonde who has a very pedestrian voice and mediocre songs… Sorry I’m incredibly mean…. On the bright side, she’s no competition for Alex AT ALL so no ones taking his spotlight…

I think it’s obvious what they’re doing since Taylor swift femme bots are a trend they’re gonnapeddle Jordyn for a quick buck instead of cultivating someone who has more artistry like Andy. I guess they learned their lesson with Justin who they realized won’t make them any money. Alex is their golden boy at the moment, perfect combo of talent and marketability. Jordyn, just cant see it. Might as well move V. I might not be a fan but at least she not annoying to watch. Oh gawd, I hope this girl is not the giggly kind… Or overly eager like Suzy O. Wow she was annoying….

@Katherine – thanks for the tips! I got a response for a place on the upper east side… Don’t think I can go wrog with that right?! Now if only Alex would go there in oct too…..
